Affiliate Disclosure

Effective July 25, 2026 · Last updated July 25, 2026

In one sentence: Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission or referral fee if you use them — at no additional cost to you, and with no effect whatsoever on the numbers any calculator produces.

The formal disclosure

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, 16 CFR Part 255.

SolarSavingsMath participates in affiliate and referral programs operated by third-party companies, including solar quote marketplaces and lead-generation networks. When you click certain links on this site and subsequently request a quote, submit a form, or make a purchase, we may receive compensation from that company.

What this costs you

Nothing. Affiliate compensation is paid by the company receiving the referral, out of their marketing budget. You never pay more for using a link on this site than you would going to that company directly.

What it does not affect

This is the part that matters most on a site built around math:

How to spot the links

Affiliate and referral links appear mainly in quote-request calls-to-action — boxes inviting you to compare installer quotes — and occasionally within guides where we mention a service by name. We label commercial calls-to-action clearly and this disclosure is linked in the footer of every page.

Purely informational links to sources such as NREL, the EIA, the IRS, or a state utility commission are never affiliate links.

Advertising

Separately from affiliate relationships, we may display third-party advertising to support the site. Ads are served by advertising networks and their presence does not constitute an endorsement. See our privacy policy for how advertising technologies handle data.

Why we disclose this so prominently

This site exists because most solar calculators are lead-capture forms that hide their business model. It would be hard to make that criticism honestly while being cagey about our own. So: we earn money from ads and referrals, we have told you exactly how, and the math stays clean regardless.

Not financial advice

Nothing on this site is financial, tax, or engineering advice. Our calculators are educational estimating tools. Confirm tax credit eligibility with a qualified tax professional, and obtain binding written quotes from licensed installers before making a purchase decision.
